Once PlayStation 4 system update 3.5, codenamed Musashi, arrives, we can expect a great many additions and refinements on our favorite console. With the beta well underway as Sony looks to iron out any bugs prior to its release, the company seemingly by mistake also launched a new version of the PlayStation Store that was live ever so briefly on PS4. It’s unclear if this new iteration will come prior to Muasashi or with it – though it obviously doesn’t require that firmware to run.
After the jump, a few more screenshots and a bit more talk.
One thing that I really like about this new design (which I didn’t get to test myself) is the abundance of information that can be easily identified. There is a lot that goes with any game like its resolution, compatibility (and this will especially be important once PlayStation VR launches), and hard drive space. Till now, this information hasn’t always been easy to spot. As you can see from the above photo, Sony has made that info a key part of how you view a game on the Store.
If I did have one suggestion, it would be to also add fps to the resolution. If a game can run at 1080p 60fps, why not give the devs their due and display it there? I’m guessing this might be due to the fact that it’s not always guaranteed that a game might even run at 30fps so displaying that can be a bit deceptive. Otherwise, I’m really digging the new design which puts the game and content around it front and center. You can check out a few more pics from the source link.
