Sony Xperia E5 Now Official and It’s Affordable

In late May, Sony’s social media arms accidentally unveiled the Xperia E5, only to pull it back within a short few hours. This obviously meant that a new budget phone was around the bend and Sony has now officially confirmed that. Sony plans to launch the Xperia E5 in late June when it will be made available in European, Latin American, Middle Eastern, and African countries. No surprise that North America is not on that list.

So what’s powering the Xperia E5?

  • 5-inch 720p display with 294 PPI pixel density
  • 13-megapixel rear-camera
  • 5-megapixel front-camera
  • MediaTek MT6735 chipset
  • 1.3 GHz quad-core processor
  • Mali-T720 MP2 GPU
  • 1.5GB RAM
  • 16GB internal storage (10GB usable)
  • MicroSD memory (supports up to 200GB)
  • 2700mAh battery, good for “two-day battery life
  • NFC, Bluetooth 4.1
  • LTE Cat4
  • Wi-Fi 802.11a/b/g/n
  • Weight – 147g
  • Dimensions – 144 x 69 x 8.2 mm

Anybody else find 1.5GB RAM odd? Perhaps this is more common in entry level phones but I’d never run across that before. Pricing has yet to be fully disclosed but when released later this month, the Xperia E5, which will come in Graphite Black and White, will cost €199 in Europe. All that aside, perhaps the best part about the Xperia E5 is that it’s a pleasure to use according to Sony.

 A pleasure to use

Xperia E5 is easy to use from the get-go, and gets even better with use. With helpful tips based on how you interact with your phone, you get the most out of your smartphone every day – without any effort.

Well alrighty then.
