FutureBrand’s Ranking of World’s Favorite Companies Released

FutureBrand

Once a year, FutureBrand leads a study where they look at the 100 biggest companies by market capitalization. From there, the study asks 3,000 consumer and industry professionals in 17 different countries about the companies and asks them to rank them

in terms of perception strength, rather than financial strength

So where did Sony rank?

As you can tell from the image above, Sony didn’t rank in the top 10. Nor did the company make the top 100 list. While that might seem odd, especially due to the brand power of PlayStation, it’s because Sony doesn’t actually have a high market capitalization and therefore was never included in the survey.

In fact, ranking all the way down at #100 is Qualcomm Inc. with a $76 billion cap, while Apple sits at #1 with a $604 billion cap. As for Sony, they have a long way to go before they’re able to make it onto this list with their current valuation sitting at $38 billion.

Curiously, Google’s Alphabet Inc.’s perception seems to have dropped among consumers, dropping 19 spots to #21 from the year prior with a $518 billion cap.

If market cap where put aside, where do you think Sony would be on the top 100 list?
