PlayStation Store Version 1.2?

Slap this purely in the rumor bin but reports have it that sometime in April, Sony is looking to do a little big of change up to the PlayStation Store. From what we have heard, this might coincide with the April 15th launch of Grand Turismo 5. If this indeed does become true, dont expect a huge change as this is suppose to bring some changes, but not a makeover but hey, were all up for a more elegant and functional store. Now, cross your fingers for in game XMB.

Custom Soundtracks for Wipeout HD

Theres only one thing I love more then HD and thats Wipeout in HD. Ive played the series sense its PlayStation launch, now over 10 years ago. So here comes Wipeout HD with a butt load of new features, including 1080p 60fps, Online 8 player mode and now, custom soundtrack. One of the most essential parts of Wipeout has always been its techno mix but it might not be for all and you might just be in the mood for some Michael Buble Korn. Till now, you had no choice but with Wipeout HD, make a playlist in XMB and you got access to it via in game. Hit the magical button as always for full press release.

DualShock 3 for the PS3

So on April 15th, your going to need yourself $94.98 (plus your local tax!) Not only is Grand Turismo 5 launching (for $39.99) but so is the DualShock 3 ($54.99). The DualShock 3 not only boasts the SIXAXIS capabilities of the current controller, but also will bring back the much asked for, Rumble. All of course, wrapped around Bluetooth. Makes me wonder what DualShock 4 will offer with the PS3. Hit the magical button for the full press release and or if you got any idea’s on what DualShcok 4 can give us.

New Home Info

When it comes to first party games, Sony seems to have nailed it with this generation. From launch titles like Resistance: Fall of Man to more recent action adventure Uncharted: Drakes Fortune to one of the craziest multi-player games ever, Warhawk. Coming out with a hit game is one thing, having it not lost with all other competing games and with Time itself is another thing.

This seems to be where PlayStation Home, or “Home” as everybody calls it, is filling in the game. Not only is Home turning out to be a great social environment (as ive met many people that are all now on my Friends list, but being a Beta Tester, I cannot go into further detail) but Home also seems to be offering another thing, a 2nd life to games. No pun for Home being like 2nd life though. Honestly.

Ready. Set. And let your jaw drop…..now.

.
Phil Harrison, President of Sony Computer Entertainment Worldwide Studios (SCE WWS) will resign on February 29th. Harrison has been with Sony since 1992, when he joined Sony Electronics Publishing. That Sony branch later evolved into Sony Computer Entertainment Europe. Says Harrison:

The past 15 years at Sony Computer Entertainment has been the defining journey of my life so far. I am grateful to all the PlayStation family for their incredible support, guidance and friendship. It has been a privilege to serve as part of the team and be inspired by them on a daily basis. I am so proud of everything PlayStation has achieved and will continue to support its future in every way I can.

Toshiba Loves Blu-ray… PS3..Cell!

Toshiba Loves Blu-rayPS3..Cell!

Toshiba is in the process of using the heart of the PS3, The cell processor that it created with Sony and IBM to power its next generation of TV’s. The Cell processor not only will allow the streaming of 6 HD sources on one screen at once, but will also replace the idea of having a costly upscaling DVD player. Oh Toshiba, we are so sorry. Side note, there is no irony or pun here for Toshiba at all.
