55 Devs to Lose Their Job at Evolution Studios (DriveClub)

DriveClub_CrashAnd then there were 55. Sadly, last week we reported on a massive layoff that would be hitting Evolution Studios, the developers behind DriveClub. We noted then that, while the game was met with a rocky launch, since that time, it’s turned into arguably one of the best arcade racers out there. Unfortunately that hasn’t been enough to save the studio from cuts and that number has revealed itself. As of March 20th, nearly half the developers at Evolution Studios would soon be without a job.

More details after the jump, including some encouraging news for fans of DriveClub and MotorStorm.

PlayStation TV Won’t Support PlayStation Vue

PlayStation_TV_1

In a move that only Sony/PlayStation could pull off, PlayStation TV, the companion device which allows you to stream PS4 games, and play PlayStation Vita games on your television will not support PlayStation Vue, the streaming TV service from Sony. Yes, PlayStation TV won’t support Sony’s PlayStation television streaming initiative. After you’re done shaking your head, meet us after the jump for some more head shaking.

Layoffs to Hit ‘DriveClub’ Developer Evolution Studios

DriveClub_BMW_M4

After what can only be described as a botched launch despite a massive delay from its original launch date, DriveClub turned out to be one of the finest driving games yet. Beautiful visuals with robust gameplay that blends single player and multiplayer in a plethora of maps and events make DriveClub a game that shouldn’t be missed. However, seeing as it took an additional two months after launch in a very public manner for the game to be fixed, it suffered in sales as racing fans stayed away from the game. With poor sales tends to come layoffs and today, the studio is receiving such news.

‘Titanfall 2’ Officially Announced for PS4

Titanfall

According to a report by IGN, Titanfall 2 has officially been announced for the PlayStation 4. According to founder and CEO Vince Zampella, Titanfall 2 would be making its way to multiplatforms where the previous title was exclusive to Xbox 360 and Xbox One which severely hampered the game’s sales, due to the huge sales advantage of the PS4.

Zampella’s official statement, after the jump.

‘Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End’ Delayed Till Spring 2016, and That’s Okay!

Uncharted_4_PlayStation_Experience

Gamers woke up to a bit of what appears to be unfortunate news that Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End would be missing its fall 2015 release date. The highly anticipated saga of Nathan Drake had been teased and shown off again as recently in December at the PlayStation Experience event in Las Vegas where a long in-game sequence with luscious graphics and smooth gameplay was shown off. Since that time, it appears that game directors Bruce Straley & Neil Druckmann (The Last of Us) didn’t feel like they’ve made enough progress for their vision to have it ready by fall.

For Sony, this can prove a bit problematic as Uncharted 4 would surely have been a system seller and their fall now remains without a AAA exclusive. For gamers, this means that a game they’ve been lusting for won’t make it to their hands for likely an additional 6 months – but you know what? It will be okay. Meet me after the jump for some common sense talk and a word or two from Bruce and Neil.

PS4 Sells (Not Shipped) 20.2 Million Units

PS4_20th_AnnivesaryThe PlayStation Nation continues to grow with momentum, not slowing down for the PS4. Sony has just announced that they’ve sold 20.2 million PS4 units since launch. It’s noteworthy that, since PS4 launched, that Sony is reporting units sold and not shipped. The difference is that Sony could very well have shipped 25 million units to retailers around the world. That sold number isn’t units sold to retail partners but units that have been bought by consumers.

Hands on with ‘The Order: 1886’

TO1886_BANNER_1920x1080_1401182230

The Order: 1886 arrived this past Friday with a whirlwind of mixed messages from media and devs alike. First, let me address the elephant in the room. The Order is NOT 5 hours long. Having played it, I can say with certainty that the game is in fact 7 to 8 hours long – no shorter than some Call of Duty or Battlefield campaigns. After the jump, wee go in depth with The Order: 1886.
