Yesterday it was revealed that PS4 beat the Xbox One sales for the 6th month in a row. This is despite Microsoft landing TitanFall as an exclusive and promoting the hell out of it wherever it they could, including at the movie theaters which likely isn’t cheap. On top of that, directly after E3, Microsoft unbundled Kinect from the Xbox One and in doing so, reduced the entry price by $100 down to $399 and on par with the PlayStation 4. Despite all of that, the PS4 was still able to easily hold off the Xbox One in the June NDP. Let’s talk numbers, including that of other consoles like the PS3 and Wii U.

In the last few months, Microsoft has done a lot to help improve sales of the Xbox One. Landing TitanFall as an exclusive was certainly a huge win for Microsoft and a $100 price cut by removing Kinect which took into affect at E3 certainly helped position the consoler as a better competitor to the PS4. In fact Microsoft has publicly stated that sales of the Xbox One had “more than doubled” versus May when each console sold for $499. Unfortunately for the folks at Redmond, none of this was enough to dethrone PS4 where the powerful console has stayed at the number one spot for 6 months in a row now.
In a little over a week, gamers who’ve never had the chance to play The Last of Us or want to experience it again in 1080p 60fps will have a chance to do so. Dubbed The Last of Us Remastered, the HD makeover of the highly-praised game is coming to the PlayStation 4 with some expansive tweaks. As mentioned, you can already expected highly improved visuals that expand beyond smoother frames per second and higher resolution. Thanks to the power of the PS4, Naughty Dog, who is handling the HD upgrade in house has also tweaked the game’s lighting, shadow mapping, and textures to provide a truly worthy visual experience.
That’s not all however as Naughty Dog isn’t just tapping into the PS4’s power. The Last of Us Remastered will also utilize the Dualshock 4 and the extra functionalities it has to offer.

If you’re as hyped as we are about Destiny, then I’m sure you can’t wait till till this Thursday when the beta kicks off. For those in the PlayStation Nation, we’ve been lucky enough to have exclusive access to the Destiny alpha but of course we want more. Now that we’re about to get our chance at more, Bungie wants to explain what the differences are between the Destiny alpha and beta.
According to David Dague, Community Manager at Bungie, some of the things we’ll get to experience during the Destiny beta include:

After the jump, the full video from Bungie where they reveal more information about the Destiny beta.
The highly anticipated Destiny beta will kickoff this Thursday, giving gamers one more chance to jump into the massive world built by Bungie before its official release. Previously, PlayStation 4 owners had exclusive access to the Destiny alpha which only gave them a glimpse of what’s to come. The Destiny beta on the other hand will be much more expansive which begs the question. When Destiny launches on September 9th, will the progress attained during the beta carry over to the full game or will we have to start our characters all over?
The answer from Bungie? Unclear. Let us explain.
As DriveClub continues to race (had to) towards its October 7th release date, we continue to find out more small tidbits about the highly anticipated ‘social’ racing simulator. One such piece of news comes from Game Director Paul Rustchynsky, who revealed on Twitter that ‘DriveClub’ would not launch with clutch support. That means those who were looking for an extra authentic racing experience will simply have to rely on shifting without that extra feedback – but it’s not really a bad thing, and it actually makes sense. Let us explain.

Sony Computer Entertainment President Andrew House has been revealing a lot about the PS4 and the future of PlayStation during the Develop Conference in Brighton. One such revelation is about the future of PlayStation and gaming in general. Andrew House believes that:
There are two or three potential directions that our industry and our form of entertainment could go
So what exactly are those directions? Let’s talk after the jump.
In an interview with Gamasutra, SCEA VP for Publisher & Developer Relations Adam Boyes talked about the future of the PS4, including the possibility of bringing something akin to Steam’s Early Access games to the console.
For the uninitiated, Steam Early Access is essentially community-driven development. As described on Valve’s own site, Early Access games “are games that evolve as you play them, as you give feedback, and as the developers update and add content.” Games that have been in or are currently in Early Access include DayZ, Rust, Starbound, and Plague Inc. Evolved, and titles can range anywhere from a near-full retail price of $39.99 to free or free-to-play.
Boyes, in speaking with Gamasutra, indicated that such a program might be a possibility for the PS4, and PlayStation consoles in general, going forward:
The Uncharted series has continuously pushed the boundaries of what can be delivered from a game in narrative, gameplay, and visuals. As can be seen from the image above, with each title released, Naughty Dog has pushed the visual fidelity of the game and its main hero Indiana Jones Malcom Reynolds Nathan Drake. Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End will be no different, but there is one change that will be coming to the series that at first might go by unnoticed – character hair.
The PlayStation Blog recently revealed the list of PlayStation Store Top Sellers for June. Ever since the DualShock 4 was introduced in conjunction with the PlayStation 4 last fall, I have been clamoring to use the superior controller with my PlayStation 3. While it has been possible to use the DualShock 4 directly wired to the PlayStation 3, it was not possible to use it wirelessly until now. On June 23rd the PlayStation 3 received updated firmware which discreetly added the ability to pair a DualShock 4 with a PlayStation 3 system. Keep reading for our step-by-step guide on how to use this new function.
When the Destiny Alpha was announced, we were lucky enough to get into the public release and play along for a few nights. While not nearly enough time was given to form a proper opinion on the game and nor was the true scale of the massive universe built by Bungie shown, the Alpha left us wanting more. And I mean a lot more. Fluid visuals, beautiful and extensive maps, and more importantly than any of those, a game that was easy to pick up and fun.
To wet your appetite a bit more for Destiny, we’ve put together a video walkthrough from the human male character builder. The captured footage is directly from the PS4 and the Alpha build. As the name suggests, this is an Alpha and anything is subject to change. With that, I hope this gives you a little glimpse of all the wonderful character builder options. In followup posts, we’ll also cover the Awoken and the Exo race.
