Grand Theft Auto V Gains Big Visual Improvements on PS4

GTA_5_PS3_vs_PS4Grand Theft Auto V was a big hit on the PlayStation 3 as you’d expect. To date, the game has sold over 17 million copies on the PS3 alone, making it one of the most successful games ever. To prove that they’re not done, at E3 2014, Sony and Rockstar surprised gamers when they announced that Grand Theft Auto V would be coming to the PlayStation 4 as well. While the same game for the most part, the big thing will obviously be the improved visuals that the PS4 can provide. Open world games like the GTA series tend to have lower visuals when compared to more path based games as the console has to bring to life an entire city at any given point versus only a given map in an FPS, for example.

With the PS4 boasting a far more powerful processor and a lot more RAM (8GB vs. 512MB), you’d think that GTA 5 would bring with it vastly superior graphics and you’d be right. A new trailer pits Grand Theft Auto V footage from the PS3 and PS4 versions against one another to give you a sense of just how much has improved. What’s more impressive is that the game engine in use will be tweaked to provide better visual fidelity on PS4 was originally developed with previous-gen consoles in mind. Now just imagine what RockStar can do with Grand Theft Auto VI on PS4 with an engine that’s optimized for the hardware.

After the jump, the comparison trailer awaits you.

E3: ‘No Man’s Sky’ Impresses at PlayStation Press Conference

Screenshot 2014-06-13 14.55.34

Last December at Spike’s VGX program, the re-named Video Game Awards show, a trailer and developer came out of left field to surprise both industry insiders and fans alike. Hello Games, makes of the Joe Danger series, debuted the first look at their new title called No Man’s Sky. The UK-based team, made up of just four individuals, stunned Twitter with a beautiful and ambitious exploration game that seemed destined for high-end PCs and new consoles, with procedurally-generated planets to explore, creatures to discover, and the vast emptiness of space to navigate between each.

Then, something unfortunate happened. On Christmas Eve, the offices of Hello Games flooded. News of the incident hit Twitter and the gaming press, and there was fear that the wondrous new game wouldn’t see the light of day.

‘Prince of Persia’ and ‘Beyond Good & Evil’ Will Come to Next-Gen Consoles

Prince_Of_Persia

While E3 2014 was packed full of games for next-gen consoles which included a healthy mix of new IP and returning franchises like Uncharted, Mirror’s Edge, LittleBigPlanet, and Far Cry, some old favorites like Prince of Persia and Beyond Good & Evil were nowhere to be found. Though there’d been whispers about each game leading up to E3 about each game, nothing materialized at the world’s biggest gaming event and for good reason.

Ubisoft CEO, Yves Guillemot, says he’s fully interested in bringing each franchise to next-gen consoles, but they’ve yet to come up with a concept that delivers. His full quote, after the jump.

E3: Sony Takes Live-streaming to the Next Level with The Playroom Set Maker

The_Playroom_Set_Maker

If there is one thing to be said about Sony and the PS4, it’s that they’ve been on the pulse of this generation of gamers. Making ‘Share’ a standard button on the Dualshock 4 controller, the PS4 has been able to live stream to Twitch and Ustream viewers from launch with YouTube support coming later this summer. Besides giving gamers the opportunity to stream their games, Sony also included The Playroom, a free mini game that allows you to interact with a VR robot named Asobi thanks to the PlayStation Eye. What makes this game/app unique isn’t its short and silly games, but that it gives everyday gamers a platform to broadcast from without having to have the content be directly a game. Looking for an easy way to broadcast yourself out there and interact with viewers via a live chat? Nothing could be easier than The Playroom.

Now, Sony is taking broadcasting and streaming to the next level with The Playroom Set Maker.

Interested? Let’s talk about all the new additions in The Playroom Set Maker after the jump.
